After careful pre-selection and interviewing to assess technical skills, personality and motivational fit we were able to present a comprehensive, and specific shortlist of vetted candidates.

The appointment

A dynamic and resourceful Chartered Accountant who viewed astute commercial awareness and proactive business partnering as vital to business success.

With foundations in Big 4 audit and family business, he displayed great entrepreneurial thinking and commercial acumen. Even with less years of experience than others who were considered for the role, his consistent record of year on year promotion was a stand out.

He was looking for an opportunity to develop his strategic and commercial capabilities to complement his management experience. The business was happy to give him this opportunity.

Within 12 months of joining he was promoted to CFO and has since become a major shareholder in the business. In June 2022 he was awarded CFO of the Year and Overall Individual Excellence at the Accountant Daily Accounting Awards.

An inspiring new Director

A forward-thinking Financial Planning company looking to grow, whilst driving uniformity across their international operations.

The brief

With senior management based in the UK, it was important that they found an established leader, capable of being the face of their Australian business.

In addition to experience managing large financial planning teams, they were looking for someone capable of identifying and cultivating their next generation of leadership. A change maker, focused on improvement of systems and processes.

Our approach

Based in Perth, and with an established track record in the financial planning space, Boston Stanley was well placed to help. We ran a detailed and independent search campaign, acting as the businesses Australian ‘boots on the ground’.

A Senior Partner to steer a new direction

A large, national Accounting Firm transitioning through a period of unprecedented change.

The brief

The unfortunate passing of a Senior Audit Partner paired with growth in their service line had left the team in unchartered territory.

They knew they urgently needed to fill the skills gap at a senior level to stabilize and move forward. Strong audit skills were essential, but equally they needed someone who was able to develop new business and lead teams.

They knew at this pinnacle of experience, convincing exceptional talent to move would be difficult and time consuming – so they reached out to us to help.

Our approach

Knowing the challenge ahead, we moved forward with a three-pronged search approach. This involved mapping the market, headhunting referrals and a multi-platform social media marketing campaign.

Together with the business we established the key selling points of the business and role, pitching to warm connections within out network.

It was important for us to set clear expectations and ask the uncomfortable questions, to ensure we weren’t wasting anyone’s time. This in turn protected the employer’s brand from a long and fruitless process.
